Theory Lessons
With an ARCT in Composition and Theory, Dianne offers expert instruction in theory, harmony, counterpoint, analysis, and music history in preparation for the RCM exams. These areas of study are essential for developing strong, well-rounded musicianship. Her teaching emphasizes both understanding and application, helping students enrich their musical knowledge and skills.

Chords of Care
The Chords of Care is an international, student-led, non-profit organization dedicated to spreading kindness through music.
Led by many of Dianne’s students who regularly share their piano talents at senior home performances, community talent shows, and night market events. Many of Dianne’s students have been recognized with the Musical Community Service Award from the BC Registered Music Teachers’ Association in celebration of their dedication and impact through these initiatives.

Keys of Joy
Through Keys of Joy, our student musicians unite to share their gifts, uplifting seniors with performances in community villages, care facilities, and social gatherings.
Since 2022, Heidi Jiang, a students parent and founder, has considered it a privilege to organize these performances, seeing the joy they inspire firsthand. Supporting these dedicated students and watching the positive impact they make in our community is deeply rewarding.
About Dianne...
Dianne opened her Nanaimo Studio in 1980, and more than 30 years later, she continues to find joy in teaching every day. She considers it a privilege to nurture each student’s potential through the study and creation of music at the piano.
Her students are motivated and inspired to set and achieve goals, discover the joy of performing, take pride in their accomplishments, and grow through their musical journey. Beyond music, these experiences foster confidence, discipline, and character that will benefit them throughout their lives.

Sherry Yu
Hi everyone!, I am currently completing my RCM Level 10 Performance. Continuing my love of music I enjoy playing violin - am in RCM level 6/ Suzuki 4, and the flute which I have been playing for almost four years in band. I believe that music has the ability to open all barriers, it has no bounds. Learning piano and music is a lifelong experience, sometimes requiring meticulous practice and hard work, though extremely rewarding. I am a Grade 11 student at Dover Bay Secondary, and a student of Dianne's since 2022, looking forward to the coming year as her associate teacher for the young beginner students. I love studying, reading, watching anime, and aiming to excel past my limits to reach my dream.

My children have been learning piano from Diane since 2016, and I can’t believe it’s been almost a decade now. Diane is absolutely the best and most professional musician and teacher in Nanaimo. She uncovers her students’ talents and always organizes music events to celebrate them. Thanks to Diane’s work with my children, our family is filled with music and laughter.

Dianne Bohn is an outstanding teacher. Her patience and understanding never falters, and her musical abilities are extraordinary. She has guided both of my daughters through many piano exams with grace, and her talent translates well into teaching. Both of my daughters are now strong musicians with love and passion for music. One of them is currently on her 2nd year of music studies in university. This is all thanks to Dianne’s guidance and enthusiasm.
